Student Council is preparing for this year’s fast-approaching Homecoming Spirit Week taking place the first week of October. “We’re hoping to make this year’s homecoming one of the most exciting events we’ve ever had, we’re trying to one up ourselves from last year,” said Student Council Spirit Store Co-Manager Kimberly Farmer.
Student Council has been working diligently for months planning this year’s homecoming activities based upon the theme “Cirque de Tigre”. These include the homecoming game, half-time show, school carnival, pep assembly, dance, and royalty elections.
The week of festivities begins on October 1 with the homecoming carnival, continues with the homecoming game on October 2, and finally the dance on October 3. Student Body President Amber Parsons promised that new surprises await students at this year’s pep assembly. She also hopes GHS students will become involved with spirit week, and encourages everyone to attend the football game, carnival, and dance to pump up school spirit. Parson’s said that the student council strives to “lead by example, [and] get people hyped up.”
Updates on homecoming and other Student Council activities throughout the year can be viewed on the soon-to come marquee above the Tiger in Tiger Hall.
